Introduction:
In the world of design, innovation often comes from unexpected places. My latest project, a unique vase crafted from 3D-printed components, a bent MS (mild steel) tube, and powder-coated in a randomly choose colors, combines industrial leftovers and modern design aesthetics. This piece stands as both a work of art and a testament to sustainability, created entirely from scrap materials and leftover industrial resources.
Inspiration Behind the Design: The inspiration for this vase came from a desire to repurpose unused materials from industrial sources, transforming them into something functional yet visually captivating. By merging sleek, modern lines with vibrant, randomized colors, I aimed to create a vase that embodies both a minimalist and industrial aesthetic.
Materials Used: The construction of this vase brought together diverse materials:
3D-Printed Vase Base: The base of the vase was created through 3D printing, allowing for precision and versatility in its form. This provided a stable foundation that can be customized in size and shape to fit the vision of the design.
This 3d printed vase has a wavy structure on the side walls which gives a good grip to hold and a nice beautiful look
Dimension of this Vase is custom built, due to material we get from scrap has different sized tubes so every time I had to re-adjust the dimension and 3d print to our requirement
Bent MS Tube: The main structure of the vase uses an MS tube bent at a perfect 90-degree angle, and some of them were Pre bent tube a scrap from fabrication
industrial material gives the vase a raw yet sophisticated feel.
Powder Coating in Random Colors: Each component was powder-coated in random, vibrant colors to bring a sense of playfulness and originality to the design. The finish not only adds durability but also creates a striking contrast against the mild steel’s industrial character.
The Design Process: From concept to completion, the design process was both creative and technical. The 3D-printed base was chosen to allow for complex forms that traditional methods might not achieve. Bending the MS tube or Pre bent at 90-degree angle required skill, transforming a basic industrial component into something refined. Finally, the decision to use powder coating in random colors brought the entire piece together, giving it a unique, almost sculptural quality.
Sustainability and Creative Repurposing: This vase is more than a decorative object; it’s a statement about sustainable design. Every piece of material, from the mild steel tube to the powder-coated scraps, was sourced from industrial leftovers and scrap materials. By choosing to work with these “forgotten” materials, this project not only minimizes waste but also highlights the potential of repurposing in modern design.
Conclusion: The vase is now a striking piece that merges form, function, and environmental consciousness. With its bold color palette, unconventional use of materials, and the story of its creation, it stands as a reminder that beauty can be crafted from the remnants of industry. This project reaffirms the idea that art and sustainability can coexist, inspiring others to see the potential in repurposing scrap into something extraordinary.
